Spring Car Maintenance TipsWinter is almost over which means that spring is just around the corner. Spring weather has different effects on your vehicle than the winter one. That means you will need to make some adjustments to your vehicle and perform some spring maintenance.
Change the oil and fluids
After the winter, it is a good idea to top off the fluids that your vehicle uses. Perhaps even have the systems flushed and the fluids changed altogether. That can be determined by an expert mechanic, you don’t need to stress yourself with the decision all on your own.
Change the winter tires
If you were using winter tires, it’s time to have them changed with ones that are more appropriate for the spring season. If you were using all-season tires, check the tread and determine if you need new ones.
Check the wheel alignment
While we are on the subject of tires, you really should check the wheel alignment of the vehicle. You can do that even when you are on the road, pay attention if the car pulls to one side while driving.
Wash your car
You will need to remove every trace of salt that might have stuck to your vehicle, pay special attention to the undercarriage.
Check the car battery
Winter is harsh on the vehicle and might lead to your car performing worse than usual. Take your vehicle to an auto repair shop so that a professional mechanic can check the charge of your car battery. It might need to be charged or replaced.
Change the wiper blades
During the winter, there are factors such as snow and ice which make your wiper blades lose their integrity much faster. Check and see if yours have run their course and if you have to buy new ones. Pay attention to the size of the wiper blades when you are purchasing new ones.
Take care of your vehicle and have a great spring season filled with road trips!
