Why Winter Tires are Important

Why Winter Tires are Important

You probably already know that there are different types of tires – some are for summer, some for winter, and there are even all-season tires for your vehicle. But do you know why it is important for tires to be the proper type for the given season? In this article, we will discuss why you should have winter tires on during the coldest months of the year.

Let us start off by saying that all-season tires are just fine, but if you live in the colder states of the country they will not be sufficient for the winter. They are not meant for extremely cold weather, snow, and ice, just as they are not meant for extremely hot weather. All-season tires are kind of good in the heat, and, again, kind of good in the cold. All of this means that they are unable to provide the needed grip and safety on the road in snow and ice, and sometimes even if the weather is just really cold. The logical conclusion would be to use the designated tires for the given season, but let us specify why. Winter tires are designed to withstand harsh conditions, such as the aforementioned - cold weather, snow, and ice. They are also designed to perform better when you need to brake, corner, drive uphill and downhill if there is either snow or ice on the ground.  Winter tires have a much better grip than all-season tires, which makes them safer during the winter months of the year. They have a few compounds that make them so special for the coldest season of the year - their very distinctive treat design in combination with blade and sipe technologies provide a high level of grip during winter weather.

Hopefully, these facts have been enough to convince you of the importance of winter tires, and you have decided to purchase such for your car. Have your vehicle’s tires changed at an auto repair shop that you can trust. Drive safe during the winter and be careful while on the roads.
