It includes larger companies that have been in business for 100 years, entrepreneurs who are just opening their doors, sole proprietors like real estate agents and CPA`s, educational systems and every business niche in between who have proven to the community exactly what they are doing to be sustainable.
Green Directory Montana provides leadership and networking opportunities to the entire Montana area. We work to help businesses and Montana succeed for the greater good of the community and for the future.

2009 Sustainability Survey
82% of Consumers Buy Green, Despite Economy- 4 out of 5 people say they are still buying green products and services today - which sometimes cost more - even in the midst of a U.S. recession, according to a new study commissioned by Green Seal and EnviroMedia Social Marketing.
Half of the 1,000 people surveyed buy just as many green products now as before the economic downturn, while 19 percent say they are buying more green products. Fourteen percent say they are buying fewer environmentally green products.
29 percent of respondents say green advertising is their primary influencer.
Twenty-one percent of consumers say a product`s reputation is the biggest factor they weigh when making purchasing decisions followed by word of mouth (19%) and brand loyalty (15%).
About one in three consumers say they don`t know how to tell if green product claims are true. One in 10 consumers blindly trusts green product claims.
Consumers are verifying green claims by reading the packaging (24%) and turning to research (going online, reading studies 47%).
Green Buyers Grow As Economy Sinks
Despite the state of the economy, 34 percent of American consumers indicate they are more likely to buy environmentally responsible products today, and another 44 percent indicate their environmental shopping habits have not changed as a result of the economy. Eight percent say they are less likely to buy.
This is according to the results of the 2009 Cone Consumer Environmental Survey.
Many consumers are inclined to hold companies accountable for their environmental commitments today and in the future:
- 35 percent of Americans have higher interest in the environment today than they did one year ago%3B
- 35 percent of Americans have higher expectations for companies to make and sell environmentally responsible products and services during the economic downturn%3B and,
- 70 percent of Americans indicate that they are paying attention to what companies are doing with regard to the environment today, even if they cannot buy until the future.
As consumer confidence in companies dips to record lows, trust in environmental messages remains surprisingly resilient, according to Cone. Nearly two-thirds (63 percent) of Americans say they trust companies to tell them the truth in their environmental messaging. There is one caveat: Most consumers (85 percent) believe companies should communicate their environmental commitments year-round. The 2009 Cone Consumer Environmental Survey presents the findings of an online survey conducted January 29-30, 2009 by Opinion Research Corporation among a demographically representative U.S. sample of 1,087 adults, comprising 518 men and 569 women 18 years of age and older. The margin of error associated with a sample of this size is + or - 3%.
