HomePage CafeWe are committed to supporting fair trade economics and organic farming in coffee and tea producing countries around the world. We have carefully chosen our suppliers for their committment to these same principles. Our roaster, Grounds for Change, is a small family owned roastery in Poulsbo, WA. Their coffee is fair trade certified by TransFair USA, a third-party fair trade certification organization that rigorously monitors producers, roasters and distributors for adherence to fair trade criteria. All Grounds for Change coffee is certified organic by the Washington State Department of Agriculture, and they roast only shade grown coffee. GFC is a member of the Northwest Shade Coffee Campaign, a project of the Seattle Audubon Society, as well as a member of 1% for the Planet and donates 1% of total sales to local and national environmental organizations. For their work in promoting fair trade they are endorsed by Catholic Relief Services. Grounds for Change is a sustainable business. Not only do they reuse and recycle within their offices--including their burlap coffee bags, but they also use 100% renewable energy through Puget Sound Energy's Green Power Program. Aspen Ridge RanchOur ponds were made to eliminate the surface water in some of our dry land and pastures. The sub surface water drains into the ponds and eventually flows through controlled drainage ditches to adjoining farm land. The ponds also are a good habitat for native birds, deer and small animals. We have fish in pond #3 and natural wind driven oxygenators in ponds #3 and #4 which keeps the water healthy for plants and fish. As a result, there is no stagnation during periods of hot weather. The Ranch has several delineated wetlands which are federally protected. Sage Creek is a perennial Stream which flows through one of the main wetlands and includes many plant species found only is these very small protected areas. We encourage visitors to use only marked trails in these areas to help us protect the environment. All fencing at the Ranch is environmentally friendly as well as safe for horses, wildlife, and domestic animals. We use very thick high tensile polypropylene coated wire which will not cut animals. Spacing of wire is done to BLM standards. All of the wood from trail making is used. Larger logs are used by homeowners for fire wood. Small trees, tree tops and limbs are shredded on to our trail system. |

Bridger BowlSince the inception of Bridger Raptor Festival 14 years ago, Bridger Bowl has recognized the value of celebrating this major migratory route of the Golden Eagle and 16 other species of raptors each fall along the ridge of the Bridger Mountains. Along with the significant effort and partnerships with organizations such as Montana Outdoor Science School, Hawk Watch International, Gallatin National Forest, Montana Raptor Conservation Center and many others, we hope to raise awareness of this significant natural event and related environmental topics by connecting the general public to research regarding wildlife and promoting access and interpretation to the findings of the research. The Raptor Festival is a fun and educational family event complete with live bird demonstrations, raptor identification talks, children activities, conservation group exhibits and raptor migration viewing on Bridger's ridge. By providing these free events to the general public we hope to foster a greater understanding of our environment and appreciation of the local wildlife we enjoy at Bridger Bowl. |
