http://www.wolfridgelambandwool.com Nature of Business: We direct market our grass-fed, natural purebred and crossbred Icelandic sheep. We offer USDA cuts of lamb, Montana-milled yarn and spinning products from their wool, and pelts and horns as additional products.
Mission: Our goal is to manage our pastures and native rangeland to fully sustain our grass-fed livestock year round. Our grazing plan encourages soil building, thus improving water cycle effects and increases the nutrition and health of the grasses for both our livestock and wildlife. We encourage strong mothering traits by lambing on pasture in season with grass growth to raise sheep that taste better than anything else we have ever tried. To produce a quality grass finished animal, and to do so in a sustainable manner. To develop and nurture the pastures that these sheep live on.
Relation to Your Community: We live where we work. The majority of our pastures belong to someone else so it is in our best interest to improve the pastures for landowners as well as for our herd. We want to keep agriculture in our area. Rising land costs, water issues, development etc have all taxed the ability to stay in farming and ranching but by making connections with absentee land owners who need land management help we all benefit.
Sustainability Goals Your Company Embraces: Holistically managed ranch practices. Improved pasture health through managed grazing improves the health and well-being of our animals. This healthier balance will eliminate our use of chemical additives such as sprays for weeds, or fertilizers, and minimize chemical de-wormers and other medications for our livestock. We sell locally to help sustain our community economically.
