Unlike many landscape companies who tout themselves as sustainable and then make most of their revenue mowing lawns burning fossil fuels, plowing snow burning fossil fuels and driving huge trucks burning fossil fuels all over the place. We educate our clients on low impact maintenance practices, etc. We work from home thus eliminating significant commuting miles and carbon footprint of heating 2 spaces simultaneously. We never drive around town in a fancy Pickup or SUV. We utilize a 25mpg car or bike to get to our meetings and engagements. We also design landscapes which require minimal plastic in irrigation materials and much more. |

NWL composts kitchen scraps and adds them to the compost facility at the Livingston Community Gardens. We use waste wood chips from a local lumber mill to mulch our projects. We use glass that is not recycled as mulch and other in our projects. |

reason New West Landscapes has donated dozens of hours of design, consulting, materials gathering and manual labor for the purpose of the Livingston Community Gardens. As part of this project, we have mandated that all gardeners donate 10% of their yields to charity including food kitchens, food banks or similar and we will require a donation receipt to return deposits on the gardens. |

reason We recently completed the design for the new Hyalite Elementary school which will engage children, teachers and community members in planting, growing, tending and harvesting their own nutritious, local food. We also just completed the design and led volunteers in construction of the Livingston Community Gardens at Western Sustainability Exchange. This has already proven to be healthy for the individuals participating and for the community of Livingston. reason New West Landscapes specifies locally manufactured, rapidly renewable materials in our projects. We use locally manufactured steel edging, as well as local mulch, and stone. We specify locally grown plant material. We specify local, small diameter wood tree stakes in all of our projects as opposed to steel stakes which are manufactured in China and transported across the world before they get to our projects. |

NWL is working on a landscape deign for a straw bale home right now which utilizes pulverized glass from the Livingston landfill...as Bozeman does not recycle glass. We purchase 100 percent recycled paper for our printers and our business cards are 100 percent recycled card stock printed with soy inks by a local company. |
