Each room also has a separate thermostat for regulating room temperature. Flakesgiving is one of the largest food drives in Montana. The annual event is sponsored by local DJs, "The Breakfast Flakes" from Cat Country. Each year volunteers work together to provide Thanksgiving dinners for 1,500 families in the Billings area. Avanta and CUsource employees raised $1,500 in donations, enough to feed 75 families! In addition to the employees? efforts, Avanta FCU donated $500 to feed another 25 families and 5 employees helped to package the meals.
Relay for Life
The employees of Avanta actively support the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Throughout the year we hold fundraising events to raise money for this great cause. We set out to raise $10,000 for Relay for Life. With the support of the community and staff members, we were able to raise $14,610.
Wish Tutoring
Several Avanta employees are involved in the WISH Tutoring program. They visit a local school several times a week and read with children.
Employee Adopt-A-Family
Each year, Avanta decorates their lobby Christmas Trees with paper stars from local community relief organizations. Each star has the name of a deserving child and their holiday wish list on it. Members and staff were invited to choose a star from the tree and shop for them. Avanta?s employee fund was used to shop for the remaining stars left on the tree.
Dora Maxwell Awards
This award is presented to Credit Unions and Chapters across the Nation in recognition of their outstanding social responsibility. This year we were honored to be a part of two first place awards.
American Cancer Society
Avanta received the award for its hard work and dedication during the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. The Midland Empire Chapter of Credit Unions also received the award for an educational program in which we participated.
Toy Drive
Avanta held a toy drive for local families in need. Children who brought in a toy, were entered into a drawing for $100. All of the toys were donated to local charities.
